The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

This is #20 in Fox’s Studio Classics series. It sports a tour-de-force peformance from Maggie Smith in the title role. What starts out as a seemingly light-hearted romantic drama takes a turn for the darker side when fascism and betrayal creep in. I had to look at the back of the box to realize it’s rated PG. I’m surprised it doesn’t have a higher rating. I don’t quite know what to think about the last half of the film. I can’t imagine how Miss Brodie was so delusional. All in all, it turned out to not be an enjoyable film for me. It was great seeing Maggie Smith, but I became disconnected from her character when she became blind to all that was going on around her.
