Tokyo Story

Tokyo Story Posted by Hello

I had always wondered what Tokyo Story was about. Since the '80s, it has crept up the Sight & Sound list of the best movies ever made. As of 2002, it was #5 on the list behind Citizen Kane, Vertigo, The Rules of the Game, and The Godfather Parts I & II. I can now say it is a well-deserved placement. It has the best framing of any Academy ratio black-and-white film that I've ever seen. His attention to detail is incredible. And the storyline is timeless. It's fascinating to watch a film that's over 50 years old in which the old folks complain about the young folks' behavior. A story about how the young generations are too busy to greet their parents when their parents come to town could be made today.
