Johnny Depp in Secret Window
This looked like a fun Saturday afternoon movie. In that regard, I wasn't disappointed. It's based on a Stephen King novella and bears his mark in tone, twists, and resolution. Johnny Depp is certainly coming into his own as an actor after having tackled vastly different roles recently in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Chocolat, and Pirates of the Carribbean. He's perfect as the disheveled center of the film. My only quibble here was with the ending. It seemed like it had ended in a manner in which the loose ends were all tidied up in plain view...but then it had to come back with an additional scene to make sure that you understood that the end had come. It was already obvious; therefore, this scene at the end brought the level of the filmmaking down a notch for me.
