Persona

Bibi Andersson & Liv Ullmann in Persona Posted by Hello

I honestly don't know what to think about Persona just yet. It's unique. It's an art piece. Much has been written about this landmark film. I think much of the film is in Sister Alma's crazy mind, but who am I to say. It's interesting in that it shows how we can take on the traits of other people...how one person affects the other as if two separate people passed each other in life and each was changed.

There's a transference of energy and experience after which neither party is the same.

Mostly, I just stared at the screen, not knowing what to think.

By the way, the commentary on this DVD has got to the worst I've ever heard. Not much insight. Mostly, it's like an assisted viewing for the blind or something: "Oh, look...there she is. She's coming into the room. What's that? I don't know." I kept listening to it hoping it would get better. Let's just say that in the first hour, it doesn't get better.
